Lifting at speed in Goodwood
Southern Cranes has been involved in the set-up of Goodwood Festival of Speed for many years. This year's festival will be held on 3-5 July. This is one of the most prestigious motor racing events in the south, and is held in the picturesque parkland surrounding Goodwood House in West Sussex.
Motor racing first came to Goodwood in 1936 when the 9th Duke of Richmond held a private hill climb through the park. His grandson, the present Earl of March, was then inspired to bring motor sport back to Goodwood. This resulted in the first Festival of Speed, held in 1993.
The Festival of Speed still features the annual hill climb, featuring historic motor racing vehicles. The festival also includes stands and shows covering all aspects of motor racing. Event organisers have found the machines supplied by Southern Cranes and Access to be ideal for the precise yet heavy lifting that is required for this type of event.
