Business Development Manager:
Southwater, Home Counties, London
What are we looking for?
We are looking for an experienced, driven Business Development Manager to join our team at Southern Cranes and Access.
The role is primarily home office/ field based, and you will be covering London and the Home Counties. This is a full-time position, working Monday-Friday, although we would expect the applicant to be flexible if required.
As a Business Development Manager at Southern Cranes & Access, your responsibilities will include:
- Developing & maintaining strong relationships with existing clients
- Identifying and pursuing new business opportunities and dealing effectively with sales leads from across the business
- Liaising with customers at all levels, understanding their requirements and creating and delivering the best solutions to meet their needs
- Taking ownership of all relevant work from conception through to completion
- Being a brand ambassador and promoting the company at every opportunity
- Ensuring that all work is prioritised and therefore delivered to the customer in a timely manner
- Collaboration with colleagues and sharing of technical expertise to deliver best in class customer service
- Negotiating contracts and framework agreements with new clients within agreed parameters
- Maintaining accurate records of sales activity and client interactions.
Person specification, desired skills and experience:
- Prior sales & business development role experience
- An understanding of crane hire is helpful but not essential as full training will be provided - a technical sales background is preferred
- IT literate and familiar with Microsoft office applications such as PowerPoint, Excel and Word
- Construction sector related experience is desirable
- Ability to negotiate and build & maintain strong B2B relationships
- Strong customer focus with a deep understanding of customer relationships and business process
- Ability to work under pressure, be self-motivated, committed to meeting deadlines, and to manage multiple requirements and demands effectively
- Strong knowledge of the construction and crane hire industry, including market trends, competitors, and regulations

Technical Representative:
London & Surrounding Areas
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced CPCS qualified Appointed Person - A61 Blue card holder with a good understanding of lifting operations and the UK crane hire industry. You will be experienced in creating innovative lifting solutions, including method statements, technical drawings (using AutoCAD), and risk assessments, ensuring that safe lifting operations are both planned and carried out on site.
The role is primarily office/home based. You will be expected to travel to sites as requested by the hire desk, carry out technical surveys and complete the relevant paperwork to ensure the safe and successful completion of the lifting operation.
Salary is negotiable based on experience.

- Produce high quality site surveys including job specific method statements, technical drawings (using AutoCAD) and risk assessments in line with industry standards
- Maintain the highest standards of Health & Safety and Quality regardless of commercial pressures
- Take ownership of all relevant work right through to completion

- Ensure that all work is prioritised and delivered in a timely manner
- Collaborate with colleagues and share any technical expertise to improve customer service

HGV Ballast Driver / HGV Class 1
Job description
We are currently recruiting for a Heavy Haulage - STGO - category C+E Ballast Driver to support our busy transport division.
Requirements:
- Previous experience of Heavy Haulage / STGO work is desirable but not essential. On the job training will be provided for the successful candidate.
- You must hold HGV Class C+E (Class 1) Licence, Driver CPC Card and a Driver Card.
The successful candidate will possess a cheerful outlook, demonstrate flexibility and resilience in overcoming challenges, be willing to travel to various locations as required, and be able to develop and maintain excellent working relationships with colleagues, clients, and contractors.
We also offer the opportunity to further your training and develop new skills. HIAB training can be provided if you demonstrate a willingness to learn and grow.

Main Duties are:
- To undertake the safe, secure and efficient movement of Mobile Crane Ballast and Ancillary equipment as required
- Performing scheduled deliveries and collections to and from customer sites as required
- Carry out daily vehicle checks
- Comply with all legal requirements relating to licensing, driver’s hours, rest periods, reduced speed limits and the correct use of digital tachograph systems
- Ensure vehicles & trailers are properly maintained, cleaned, and used in accordance with permitted weight limits
- Represent SCA in a professional and courteous manner at all times to colleagues, customers, the general public and other road users
- Check equipment is loaded & unloaded in a safe manner in accordance with current legislation and SCA SSOW.

Lift/Crane Supervisor:
Southwater, Camberley & Thatcham
Location: London & the Southeast must be able to travel to Thatcham/Camberley.
Southern Cranes and Access have an exciting opportunity and are currently recruiting for a Lift/Crane Supervisor on a full-time, permanent basis.
We are looking for an experienced CPCS/NPORS qualified Lift/Crane Supervisor with a good understanding of lifting operations and the UK Crane Hire industry.
Applicants must be flexible to travel to various locations as required and have a positive attitude with the ability to maintain good working relationships with colleagues, clients, and contractors.
Duties Include:
- The Lift Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the set-up, maintenance, and safe and efficient operations of the lifting equipment. They are responsible for co-ordinating and supervising all lifting activities in accordance with regulations and is required to be present during all lifting operations.
- Working with the Crane Operator to ensure safe lifts.
- Co-ordinating and supervising all lifting activities in accordance with the Lifting Plan.
Requirements:
- CPCS/NPORS Lift/Crane Supervisor Card
- Previous experience as a Lift Supervisor
- Good communication skills

Mobile Crane Operators:
Southwater, Camberley & Thatcham
Southern Cranes & Access Ltd are currently recruiting for Mobile Crane Operators on a full-time, permanent basis (40 hrs per week + Overtime).
South East (Southwater, Camberley and Thatcham)
We are looking for Mobile Crane Operators with a valid CPCS card with A60 Mobile Crane Operator authorisation and HGV Class 2/Class C Licence. We pride ourselves in delivering safe lifting solutions coupled with an excellent customer experience.
The role of a Mobile Crane Operator includes the following:
- Driving the Crane in a safe and efficient manner between SCA depot and customer sites.
- Liaise with Site Manager/Project Manager upon arrival on site.
- Follow safe working procedures & guidance for manual handling.
- Carry out safe lifting operations while working within the capabilities of the equipment in use.
- Undergo training on specific models of crane, become familiar with rigging and maintenance procedures as per manufacturers guidance and recommendations.
- Be fully aware of the effects of the wind and other climatic effects on the crane and load.
- Able to take the action to avoid dangerous situations, including stopping lifting operations if required.
- Able to resist pressures from other persons to carry out unsafe operations.
- Be competent in the operation and correct functioning of the relevant safety equipment and systems within the crane
