Trainee Mobile Crane Operator
Location – Camberley (Surrey), Reading (Berkshire)
Starting in June, we have an exciting opportunity to join our dynamic team as a Trainee Mobile Crane Operator and embark on an exciting career journey with us.
The role offered is full-time, 40 hours, Monday to Friday, although we expect the applicant to be flexible and be able to work overtime, including weekend working where required.

Role requirements:
- The minimum requirement is an HGV Cat C (Class 2) Driving Licence (Cat C+E (Class 1) advantageous)
- Able to work well as part of a team and individually
- Enthusiastic and punctual
Over the course of the 2-year programme, you will gain the following qualifications:
- NPORS Mobile Crane Operator Red card (converted to Blue card once 300 hours have been completed)
- NPORS Slinger Signaller Red card (converted to Blue card once 300 hours have been completed)
- Level 2 NVQ in Cranes and Specialist Lifting and Slinger/Signaller.
Main job roles include:
- Operate a Mobile Crane allocated to you by the company following an assessment from a manufacturer induction or competent operator of the allocated machine
- Drive the crane from the base depot to the requested site, at the time of request
- Upon arrival on site, set up the crane in the position identified in the method statement compiled by the customer or the company as per the relevant machine manufacturers’ operating manual
- Operate the crane via communications from onsite slinger/signallers’ utilising 2-way radios or hand signals as mandated by the requirements of the on-site method statement
- Carry out pre-operational checks on machine as required in line with company policy and complete company documentation identifying any issues arising from those checks
- Complete routine maintenance as required, the frequency of which is as per company policy with the assistance of the depot crane engineer as required

Lift/Crane Supervisor:
Southwater, Camberley & Thatcham
Location: London & the Southeast must be able to travel to Thatcham/Camberley.
Southern Cranes and Access have an exciting opportunity and are currently recruiting for a Lift/Crane Supervisor on a full-time, permanent basis.
We are looking for an experienced CPCS/NPORS qualified Lift/Crane Supervisor with a good understanding of lifting operations and the UK Crane Hire industry.
Applicants must be flexible to travel to various locations as required and have a positive attitude with the ability to maintain good working relationships with colleagues, clients, and contractors.
Duties Include:
- The Lift Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the set-up, maintenance, and safe and efficient operations of the lifting equipment. They are responsible for co-ordinating and supervising all lifting activities in accordance with regulations and is required to be present during all lifting operations.
- Working with the Crane Operator to ensure safe lifts.
- Co-ordinating and supervising all lifting activities in accordance with the Lifting Plan.
Requirements:
- CPCS/NPORS Lift/Crane Supervisor Card
- Previous experience as a Lift Supervisor
- Good communication skills
- Safety conscious

Mobile Crane Operators:
Southwater, Camberley & Thatcham
Southern Cranes & Access Ltd are currently recruiting for Mobile Crane Operators on a full-time, permanent basis (40 hrs per week + Overtime).
South East (Southwater, Camberley and Thatcham)
We are looking for Mobile Crane Operators with a valid CPCS card with A60 Mobile Crane Operator authorisation and HGV Class 2/Class C Licence. We pride ourselves in delivering safe lifting solutions coupled with an excellent customer experience.
The role of a Mobile Crane Operator includes the following:
- Driving the Crane in a safe and efficient manner between SCA depot and customer sites.
- Liaise with Site Manager/Project Manager upon arrival on site.
- Follow safe working procedures & guidance for manual handling.
- Carry out safe lifting operations while working within the capabilities of the equipment in use.
- Undergo training on specific models of crane, become familiar with rigging and maintenance procedures as per manufacturers guidance and recommendations.
- Be fully aware of the effects of the wind and other climatic effects on the crane and load.
- Able to take the action to avoid dangerous situations, including stopping lifting operations if required.
- Able to resist pressures from other persons to carry out unsafe operations.
- Be competent in the operation and correct functioning of the relevant safety equipment and systems within the crane
