Crane Hire Desk Controller
Location: Southwater
Due to continued growth, Southern Cranes and Access are expanding our team and currently recruiting for a full-time, permanent Crane Hire Desk Controller.
As the first point of contact, Hire Desk Controllers play a pivotal role in driving our business' success, by building strong customer relationships, understanding their hire needs and ensuring we can meet them.
As the Hire Desk Controller, you will be part of a busy team, ensuring all enquiries from our sales team or directly from our customers are processed efficiently and in line with our high standards.
Duties Include:
- You will be responsible for the hire desk and rehire processes including the maintenance and growth of new and existing clients from diverse sectors
- Key responsibilities include dealing with hire desk processes, queries, order processing, scheduling and developing rehire business
- Checking availability of machines & labour
- Generating customer hire contracts
- Daily management of labour
- Must deliver a high level of customer service with a friendly, professional & helpful attitude whilst developing close customer working relationships with both new and existing customers ensuring that new and repeat orders are managed efficiently
- Salary is negotiable depending upon experience
Requirements:
- Previous experience on a hire or fast paced sales desk
- Good knowledge of Mobile Cranes and the Plant industry

HGV Mechanic / Mobile Technician
Location: Southwater / Mobile
SWe are seeking a skilled and reliable HGV Mechanic with mobile technician experience to join our team. You will be responsible for the inspection, diagnosis, repair, and maintenance of HGVs and trailers both in the workshop and on-site. The ideal candidate will have extensive hands-on experience and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out routine inspections, servicing, and repairs on HGVs and trailers to DVSA standards
- Responsible for maintenance standards of the HGVs and Trailers
- Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults, including engines, gearboxes, brakes, and suspension systems
- Perform on-site mobile repairs and emergency callouts
- Maintain accurate records of work carried out using job cards and service sheets
- Ensure all work is completed efficiently, safely, and in accordance with company and legal standards
- Liaise with transport manager to provide updates and service recommendations
- Adhere to health and safety regulations at all times
- Assist in MOT preparations and safety inspections
Are you:
- Able to work independently in a challenging, dynamic environment
- Able to work flexibly and work out-of-hours or on-call when required
- Capable of collaborating effectively within an established team dynamic
- From time to time, able to work and assist the fitters in the workshop
Do you have:
- Proven experience as an HGV Technician/Mechanic/Fitter (minimum 5 years preferred)
- NVQ Level 3 in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent)
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills
- Experience with a variety of makes and models of commercial vehicles
- Own a full set of relevant tools
- IRTEC HGV inspection certification
- HGV CE driving licence with less than six points
- DCPC Card
- Tacho Card
Desirable:
- IMI MOT HGV Examiner or equivalent
- Knowledge of O Licencing Regs – PG9s OCRS Score etc
- Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems
- Welding and fabrication experience
- Familiarity with vehicle diagnostic software

Lift/Crane Supervisor:
Southwater, Camberley & Thatcham
Location: London & the Southeast must be able to travel to Thatcham/Camberley.
Southern Cranes and Access have an exciting opportunity and are currently recruiting for a Lift/Crane Supervisor on a full-time, permanent basis.
We are looking for an experienced CPCS/NPORS qualified Lift/Crane Supervisor with a good understanding of lifting operations and the UK Crane Hire industry.
Applicants must be flexible to travel to various locations as required and have a positive attitude with the ability to maintain good working relationships with colleagues, clients, and contractors.
Duties Include:
- The Lift Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the set-up, maintenance, and safe and efficient operations of the lifting equipment. They are responsible for co-ordinating and supervising all lifting activities in accordance with regulations and is required to be present during all lifting operations.
- Working with the Crane Operator to ensure safe lifts.
- Co-ordinating and supervising all lifting activities in accordance with the Lifting Plan.
Requirements:
- CPCS/NPORS Lift/Crane Supervisor Card
- Previous experience as a Lift Supervisor
- Good communication skills

Mobile Crane Operators:
Southwater, Camberley & Thatcham
Southern Cranes & Access Ltd are currently recruiting for Mobile Crane Operators on a full-time, permanent basis (40 hrs per week + Overtime).
South East (Southwater, Camberley and Thatcham)
We are looking for Mobile Crane Operators with a valid CPCS card with A60 Mobile Crane Operator authorisation and HGV Class 2/Class C Licence. We pride ourselves in delivering safe lifting solutions coupled with an excellent customer experience.
The role of a Mobile Crane Operator includes the following:
- Driving the Crane in a safe and efficient manner between SCA depot and customer sites.
- Liaise with Site Manager/Project Manager upon arrival on site.
- Follow safe working procedures & guidance for manual handling.
- Carry out safe lifting operations while working within the capabilities of the equipment in use.
- Undergo training on specific models of crane, become familiar with rigging and maintenance procedures as per manufacturers guidance and recommendations.
- Be fully aware of the effects of the wind and other climatic effects on the crane and load.
- Able to take the action to avoid dangerous situations, including stopping lifting operations if required.
- Able to resist pressures from other persons to carry out unsafe operations.
- Be competent in the operation and correct functioning of the relevant safety equipment and systems within the crane
